The United Nations Development Programme is one of the most influential and significant UN organs. Charged with the objective to aid countries in eliminating poverty, achieving sustainable economic growth, and supporting human development, it is the largest development aid agency in the world, helping around 170 member states build meaningful and significant partnerships with various stakeholders. With the ability to provide funding pools and strategic plans, its impact as a UN organ on the global community is substantial.
Building Climate Resilience Through Combatting Infrastructure Disparities
Climate change is a severe issue that not all countries can face with the same caliber of resources. The disparity in wealth and resources between High-Income Countries (HICs) and Low-Income Countries (LICs), for example, has resulted in some nations being better equipped to tackle, address, and mitigate the effects of climate change than other member states. This has been a significant issue that has increasingly caught the attention of UNDP in the last few decades. Throughout these past decades, UNDP has aided in closing the resource gap through equipping all countries with the necessary resources to combat climate change. Delegates will be tasked with furthering UNDP’s efforts in this field of climate mitigation, and spark insightful debates into the most practical solutions to tackle the global challenge of climate change.
